Sri Lanka is entering a precarious new phase. Following widespread popular protests, and the storming of their residences, both President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his prime minister have promised to stand down. But with the country effectively bankrupt, and IMF talks now stalled, it is unclear how any new government will be able to deal with the country’s economic crisis. Given this chaotic situation, there is a high likelihood of renewed bouts of lawlessness.
In this emergency briefing, our experts will provide updated scenarios for how the crisis will progress, both in the near and longer terms. We will ask what is next for Sri Lanka, assessing if and how a new government may be able to resolve the underlying causes of the recent instability. The briefing will also include an opportunity for attendees to pose questions to our panel.
We look forward to you joining. Places are limited and preference will be given to Dragonfly clients.
